The Museum

Navigation and Set Pieces - Level Design Solo Project (2022)

Context

For this project, I had to create the prototype of a level with a first or third-person controller.

The prototype had to offer 6 to 8 min experience with thoughtful navigation, use placeholders, and contain at least one level design set piece.

I also had to do a Level Design Document for this project, which you can find below.

Production Insight

For this project, I chose to do a level for a concept I made.

The concept is an educational navigation game where the goal is to revive an entire city by accomplishing tasks and solving puzzles related to different themes (Literature, History, Maths, ...).

In this level, the player have to solve 3 different puzzles to revive a dull museum. The player can also explore and learn about the History of Art.

I programmed all the puzzles in C# and modelled the level in Maya

Why a museum?

When brainstorming for this project, I thought about places in the real world with great layout, where anyone can have an enjoyable experience of navigation. Museums' layout always inspired me so i decided to go with this.

Furthermore, I had some courses about the Histories of Architecture and Art and thought that it could be great to add puzzles as set pieces and interactive objects making the player learn while having memorable experiences.

Indeed, art and its codes have always been a great source of inspiration.
