The goal of this exercise was to develop a monetization plan for an existing premium game, incorporating two monetization features. The challenge was to implement these features without transitioning the game into a fully free-to-play model.

Reflection

  • This exercise helped me to gain a deeper understanding of designing monetization, emphasizing the crucial role of design intentions even in economic design.

  • I had to think in detail about the impacts (production/gameplay/public-wise) of each monetization feature I thought of implementing and how to incorporate them into the gameplay loop.

  • The challenge of refraining from transitioning the game into a free-to-play model prompted a shift in my approach, compelling me to explore alternative strategies that align with the essence of the original game while still achieving the goals of the monetization plan.
